hey guys, i just picked up a set of jdm headlights. im not sure but i think these lights are the factory hid version, you know the one that comes with the little leveling motors ect. my first question is, how can i tell if it was factory hid if i dont have the original hid bulb/ballast? and on my lights, there is a leveling motor on the drivers side, but not on the passenger side, (the passenger side has the spot for one i think but its definatly not there) is this normal?

If they came with the leveling motor,then yes they were factory HIDs there.

The only thing you can do is buy some H1 bulds or a H1 HID kit and throw them in.Now about your stock headlights,they never came with leveling motors.

Each headlight comes with their own motor....

i figured just as much. so if i wanted the lights i have to be functioning, i have to get a aftermarket hid set (since the ones that are in it now are bad), one leveling motor, and the dust shield for each hid bulb. i am thinking that if i can find a usdm sti headlight, pull or at least look at the leveling motor on that to see if its the same. then for the dust caps i dont know, maybe look to the usdm sti lights again?

UPDATE: apparently the 06 sti leveling motors are a perfect match to the jdm lights. Ive got two on the way. the only thing i need now are the hid bulb dust caps. any idea where to find those?
